A quick question for the community: how would you feel about mirroring the comm on Dreamwidth? Posts here would remain the same; the only difference would be that I would import all the old posts and comment threads on DW, and posts could be crossposted from there to here. This way people who've switched platforms can access posting to the comm without going to LJ.

Community import on DW is not live for me yet, but when it does happen, I can do this if you guys would like. Again, it's not a "move" (you wouldn't ever need to go to DW if I do it right), just a mirror.

For anyone interested, [livejournal.com profile] fe_exchange is holding their holiday fic/art swaps. If you're interested in doing it this year, sign up fast!

- - -

Also, is anyone interested in possibly restarting the periodic theme challenges? I figure it'd be a good way to keep the comm alive and all that good stuff. Let me know here (or via PM or messenger) if you have any input on things, or ideas, or anything, really.

Hey, everyone. Please remember to vote for the contest winners - as is, we don't actually have enough votes to fairly determine a winner. Voting closes tomorrow, Wednesday August 3rd, at midnight EST (or to be honest, whenever I get around to posting the winners.)

Also I'm taking the lack of interest as. . .well, a lack of interest, so I'm not sure there'll be any more challenges at all. So, uh, make this one special~~ or something like that.

Hey everyone!

Since LJ's been so sporadic lately, I'm extending the voting time until Wednesday, August 3rd at midnight EST. If you're not sure if your vote went through, please comment again - if I've seen it already, I'll just discount it, so no worries.

Voting post is here and is open to all members and watchers.

Entries for Challenge #02: Apology are now closed!

Please choose exactly 2 of our entrants, one for first and one for second. Only the first place winner will be announced this time, since we had so few entries. Stories assigned 1st place will get 2 points, 2nd place, 1.

The submissions:

A. Three Times Ewan Apologized to Saleh (and the One Time Saleh Apologizes to Ewan) by [livejournal.com profile] taywen
B. Fallen by [livejournal.com profile] matty_boy91
C. And who'd have thought tomorrow could be so strange? by [livejournal.com profile] blankspectrum

Voting will close on Sunday, July 31st.

Your delightful failure of a mod, [livejournal.com profile] raphiael, apparently forgot how to work calendars!

The correct ending date for the "Apology" fic/art challenge theme is Sunday, July 24th, not Saturday as initially announced.

So if you have some magical WIP in progress, or you want to throw something together now, you have until midnight tonight to post it. We only have two entrants thus far, so . . .what do you have to lose, right? Right!

Hey, everyone.

Just posting to remind you that the deadline for our second fic/art challenge, "Apology", is in one week. All entries must be in by Saturday Sunday, July 24th at midnight EST.

Rules and guidelines for this challenge can be found at the original post here.

Thanks, and uhh. . . keep. . . Magvelling? Yeah, let's go with that.

Hey everyone!

I've been debating whether or not to continue with the theme challenges here, since there are so many active FE comms, and since there seems to have been a resurgence in Magvel interest there anyway (yaaaayyyy~).

So I've made a little poll, and I'd be much obliged if you could take a moment to fill it out!

If you have any other thoughts/suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them.

ETA: For the purposes of this poll, anyone who is named or shown within the game is considered a canon character. So a piece about the early heroes of Magvel, or about Nada Kuya, or about that one family that almost gets eaten by spiders? Totally okay. A fic predominantly about Joshua's long lost sister, or about Jim-Bob the swordsman from Caer Pelyn, or whoever, would not fall under this.

I'm gonna extend voting on the contest til Wednesday, June 8th at midnight EST, because we don't have enough votes to declare a winner.
So, uhm, please do vote :D

Sorry for taking a while to get to this.

Our first challenge is over, and it's up to you all to decide who the winner is. I'll be using a similar format as FE Contest uses - select a story for first, second, and third place (no more, no less). Stories assigned 1st place will get 3 points, 2nd, 2, and 3rd, 1. The story with the most points wins.

Votes will be screened. Anonymous and non-member/watcher votes will not be counted. You may vote for your own story.

Voting will be open until Sunday, June 5th. Please vote!

The submissions:

A. Mercenary, by [livejournal.com profile] rethira
B. A Tea Party for Two by [livejournal.com profile] crimsonmorgan
C. Lotus Queen by [livejournal.com profile] xirysa
D. To Bear the Mantle by [livejournal.com profile] lacunose
E. Until Midnight by [livejournal.com profile] nagasasu
F. The Making of a King by [livejournal.com profile] taywen

Awesome stuff, everyone :D

Just a short reminder that our first challenge Royalty ends on May 30th. Throw a last look at your fic, edit the hell out of it and post! Good luck!

Also, another reminder of the existence of our rec list! Pimp out your favourite Magvel fics.

Hey everyone!

We've gotten some awesome submissions for the "Royalty" theme challenge, but there have been a couple requests for an extension. Since I know this is exam/cram/not-fun season for a lot of us, I'm going to push the deadline back to May 30th. All submissions must be in then, and I will post the voting at that time.

Please remember that we have no word minimum or maximum, and that art is absolutely in the running.

Uhm, happy Magvel-ing! :D

Hi there. Just a short reminder that the deadline of our very first writing challenge ends April 30th, 2011 at midnight EST. (Or until one of the mods posts the voting post ;P)

Also, a friendly reminder that our rec list exists! Pimp out your favourite Magvel fic.

Magvel Challenge #1: Royalty

After considering all the opinions and ideas of the comm, [livejournal.com profile] crimsonmorgan and I have decided to open up the comm's first challenge.
The theme is "royalty", and you may take that in any direction that sings to you.

The rules for this challenge:
1. Art and fic are both welcome.
2. You may also use your piece for other comms/challenges, but you may not enter an old piece (as in, posted somewhere before this challenge began).
3. Canon characters are not a necessity - the only requirement is that it takes place within the world of FE8, or an AU thereof.
4. There is no minimum or maximum word count for 'fic.
5. There are no rating restrictions - however, please tag your work appropriately.
6. The deadline is April 30th, 2011 at midnight EST. Entries will be judged by screened-comment voting by members.

Prize will be a sweet, delicious banner by [livejournal.com profile] raphien and bragging rights as the one, the only winner of the first [livejournal.com profile] magvel community challenge!

Questions, concerns, and all other matters related to this may be posted here.

Editing to add that I ([livejournal.com profile] raphien) will be handling the vote counts and such, and am thus excluding myself from participating. It is open to everyone else.

Hey everyone!
When the comm was originally bounced around as an idea, [livejournal.com profile] crimsonmorgan and I couldn't come to a decision on whether or not we wanted to set up a periodic (monthly or bimonthly, perhaps) fic/art challenge.

I'm torn myself - on the one hand, we have [livejournal.com profile] fe100, [livejournal.com profile] fe_fest, [livejournal.com profile] emblanon, [livejournal.com profile] fe_exchange, [livejournal.com profile] fe_contest, and probably some others I've missed that offer prompts and challenges which can get overwhelming, and fandom as obligation is a great way to suck the fun out of it.

On the other hand, offering a challenge here would be completely optional, and could offer challenges around specific characters, themes, and elements that are more specific to Sacred Stones, plus shedding some light on things that are rarely touched on.

So, I figure I'll raise the question here, what do you all think? Would you participate? If we do offer challenges, what kind do you want, and how often?.

Also pimping out our fic rec list - feel free to chime in there :3

Everything is officially set up and ready to go, so feel free to post!
(If anyone has any other genre tags they'd like to be added, please let me know.)

As you may already know this is a community where you can discuss characters and meta, pimp fics and art, talk gameplay, ask questions, and everything else you can come up with. The only rule: it has to be connected to Magvel/FE8 in some way.

Rules and fic/art header behind the cut! )
raphiael: (Duessel)
[personal profile] raphiael
[livejournal.com profile] crimsonmorgan and I are still getting things up off the ground, but here are the basics!

This is a comm for discussion, ficcage, art, and just about anything else pertaining to FE8, in an attempt to spread the love a bit more.
Full rules will come within the week, but any suggestions or questions you have, feel free to post them right here.

Especially of concern - tags! Do we want tags for individual characters? Which characters get tags? Is Gheb as tagworthy as Eirika? (We will not be adding pairing tags. There's no way we can predict if someone's going to write, I dunno, Selena/Morva, you know? too many options.)

Also, would anyone else want to be a moderator?
